I am getting to the point where I would be oh-so-happy if I never saw another monoid again in my life. Despite my frustration, I'm preparing for the senior project presentation that I give to the math seminar on Thursday. This is how I think I would react if I were greeted by the subject of my research right about now:

Monoid: Hi Stacey! I'm your happy friend, the finitely generated monoid!
(Stacey casts a suspicious look in the algebraic structure's direction)
Stacey: You don't happen to be... numerical, do you?
Monoid: You bet I am! I love addition sooooo much!
(The Monoid exits stage right while being chased by burned-out mathematician wielding a large blunt object.)

If you can't tell, I'm ready to be done. Thankfully, it's just a month until graduation. I will sorely miss many members of the math faculty here though because they're such wonderful instructors, so willing to help and get involved with their students.

On a happier note, we've had some lovely storms today that were nice enough to wait to begin deluging until I was safe in my dorm instead of on upper campus. Heavy storms are wonderful -- they've helped me feel a little more centered and a little less stressed.

Back to trying to prove my claim that it is possible to generate the entire factor chain of m in S using switches.
